owned by Prima Kosta Rancho of Yuba City, CA, has become a very important breeding stallion not only in the reining and cutting world, but also to Morgan Sport Horse owners. They know that Sport Horse events such as dressage, driving and three-day-eventing require a balanced horse. Mare owners are breeding foals that have a larger hip to take the added strain of the events that require impulsion from behind, driving off the back end. Valdez helps their mares in this goal.

In the last several years, colored Morgans - Buckskin, Palomino , Grey and Roan - have seen a tremendous increase in popularity. This has been an added feature in breeding to Primavera Valdez. He produces color in 50% to 60% of his foals, along with great conformation, athletic ability and good temperament. Quarter Horse owners looking at the Morgan breed for the first time have been particularly interested in the Buckskin and Palomino Morgans.

This versatile stallion continues to add credits to the Morgan world by being the first in the breed to compete in previously unexplored areas:

Primavera Valdez is the first Morgan stallion that holds the National Reining Horse Association's Sire and Dam Program Award as an "Honor Roll Stallion"

Primavera Valdez won Grand Champion Buckskin Stallion at the American Buckskin Buckskin Registry Association under an ABRA Open Judge and we hope to show him and his offspring in other buckskin registry shows.

Primavera Valdez has become a favorite stallion at the U.C. Davis Veterinarian Large Animal Reproduction Department. He has been used in class demonstrations during collection for A.I. shipments while being handled by the vet students. Many of these students had no experience in collection which can be dangerous if a stallion is not extremely well behaved during the procedure. He has made many friends among the veterinarians on his many visits with his tractable, friendly disposition.

His progeny have been establishing good track records on their own.

His first year in reining at the Grand Nationals, OKC were very successful! John is the first person I have met that had his saddle designed and built, tack specially made by a woman with work exhibited in the Smithsonian Institute and he has done a beautifully job renovating a surrey. All this was done before John got his horse!

Visit Brio at the Gab Creek Farm's website

Linda has bred Calyn's Katydid Gold to her dressage stallion Triple S Eager Beau for a 1998 foal. Calyn's Yellow Rose is now in Arizona in training and her owner plans to use her for Fox Hunting!

Jane York bred and raised LA FLORA DE PRIMAVERA, a five year old buckskin mare with six month professional training in reining. This mare is for sale for anyone interested in 100% Western Working Family bloodlines to carry on in their breeding program.

Katie Black bred a daughter of her stallion, Carlyle Command. This buckskin filly is in training with Doug Untiedt in Southern California. This was a really nice combination of two bloodlines to produce the best of both worlds. Rumor has it that Katie's son is claiming her.

TRECE DE MAYO, is owned by Allen and Kristen Breyer, IL. They are working this buckskin filly by their well known mare, towards a reining career but I wouldn't be surprised to see her end up in Calvary Re-enactment down the road!

POLZO DE ORO, bred by Gerry Paiva, CA, buttermilk buckskin gelding, is now owned by Pam Ramirez, CA. Pam rides this gelding in three day and cross country eventing. He really stands out in the crowd at 16 H under english tack.
